The Claddagh ring is so well recognized the world over, as being Irish, that many refer to it as “The Irish Ring”. Not everyone knows the symbolism behind its design though – The hands are for Friendship, the heart for Love and the crown for Loyalty.

It was designed as a wedding ring, and has been used as such for hundreds of years. Nowadays however, its meaning has evolved, especially in the US, where it is used as a friendship ring or as a symbol of Irish Heritage.

This delightful example of the Claddagh ring is made from Stainless Steel, which has the beauty of silver, without the work. Stainless steel does not need to be polished, and is also a stronger metal than silver. Perfect for kids, or those who just want a sturdy ring.

Design features of this Claddagh Ring are:

  • Made from 316 L Stainless steel
  • Available in sizes 4 to 10
  • Approx. 3/8" tall from tip of heart to tip of crown

Dating to to about 600 AD, we photographed this Ogham stone in Kilmalkedar Church, on the Dingle peninsular, in Co. Kerry. on our last trip to Ireland. The ogham carving reads "ẠṆM MẠỊLE-INBIR/ MACI BROCANN" - "Name of Máel-Inbher son of Broccán"
