One of the origin stories of the Kilt Pin, goes back to the reign of Queen Victoria. The Queen was inspecting the troops on a windy day and found it necessary to remove her hat pin and fasten it to a young soldier’s kilt, to save them both from embarrassment!
This rugged kilt pin depicts the Thistle, the national emblem for Scotland since the 1200’s. The story here goes along the lines of – There was an invading party that wanted to sneak up on their Scottish victims at night and so they removed their footwear. One of the invaders trod on the thorny thistle and yelped in pain. This alerted the Scots and they were saved, all because of the lowly Thistle!
