The Trinity Knot is the most well known of the Celtic Knots. For most people the symbolism of the Trinity represents the Blessed Trinity (The Father, The Son & The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost). The original meaning of the Trinity Knot is not certain as it was created before written language.

During the christianisation of Ireland many pagan symbols were given new interpretations, as it is easier to convert people if you use elements that they are familiar with.
