The design which is beautifully crafted into this Celtic Pewter barette features a large Celtic Knot design, which is open to interpretation. Some people see two interwoven fish, facing in opposite directions. Others see a large ornate Celtic Knot.

By the way, as this is pewter, it does have a little weight to it, so works best for thick or curly hair.

Dating to to about 600 AD, we photographed this Ogham stone in Kilmalkedar Church, on the Dingle peninsular, in Co. Kerry. on our last trip to Ireland. The ogham carving reads "ẠṆM MẠỊLE-INBIR/ MACI BROCANN" - "Name of Máel-Inbher son of Broccán"
