This beautiful highly detailed Celtic Cross is a replica of the Durrow High Cross. St. Columcille (or St. Columba) founded one of his earliest and most important monasteries in Durrow, Co. Offaly. Although the monastery no longer exists, the High Cross of Durrow survives.
The Cross is protected from the elements, within a preserved church, on the site. The cross stands almost 12 feet tall, and is covered in highly detailed sculptured images from the bible, carved over 1000 years ago!
