Traditionally used as a Toasting cup for Weddings, this particular quaich is even more appropriate for this, as it is adorned with the traditional wedding image of doves and wedding rings.
So, the story goes that long ago in Scotland, when there were warring clans (families) and they wanted to declare peace, this peace was often brought about through a wedding (You can't kill each other anymore because you are all related!) The host party would hold the quaich with both hands (and therefore could not hold a weapon) and would drink from it first (to show it was not poisoned). Then the guest party would drink from it, also holding both handles.
While this Quaich is smaller than the average size, only holding a dram (hardly big enough to share), it still has all the beautifully crafted detailing of it's larger counterparts.
