The Quaich is a Scottish two handled shallow drinking cup, that nowadays is used to toast Celebrations.  This quaich is adorned with a delightful Celtic Knot which (depending on the person) is either four individual Celtic Knots, or one larger Celtic Knot.

Long long ago in Scotland, when warring clans (families) began to tire of fighting and wanted a bit of peace, the Quaich was used as a peacemaking tool.  Peace was often brought about with a wedding (You are all related now, so you can't kill each other anymore!). The host party would hold the Quaich with both hands (and therefore could not hold a weapon) and would drink from it first (to show it was not poisoned). Then the guest party would drink from it, also holding both handles.

While this Quaich is smaller than the average size, only holding a dram (hardly big enough to share), it still has all the beautifully crafted detailing of its larger counterparts.
