The Trinity Knot is the most recognized of the Celtic Knots.  The modern interpretation of the Trinity Knot is that of the Blessed Trinity i.e. The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit/Ghost.

Since most the Celtic Knots and designs were created before written language (it was an oral tradition, one of learning everything off by heart) it is uncertain what the original meaning of this symbol was.  However, as the Celts also had a Triune God, it is possible that it was a representation of the pagan Goddess representing The Maiden, The Mother and the Crone (wise old woman).  In addition, being a continuous knot with no beginning or end it is believed to represent eternity or forevermore.

The number 3 held a special significance for the Celts which is not only displayed in the Trinity Knot itself but is amplified by the 3 Double stranded trinity knots that make up these popular earrings.

Design elements of these are:

  • Sterling Silver and Rhodium over Lead Free Pewter
  • Earring wires are Surgical steel and hypo-allergenic
  • Approx.  1/2” x 1/2"
