Established around 1565 AD, County Leitrim is home Glencar Waterfall, which inspired Yeats in his poem The Stolen Child.
This hand crafted replica road sign, is based on the original An Roinn Iompair (Department of Transport) specifications, with raised black text on a white background, and using a faithful homage to the original ‘Irish Transport Heavy’ Font.
These ‘Fingerpost’ Road Signs depicted the original Irish spelling above the English equivalence, and were widespread before the 1970s, and can still be seen today in many rural areas of the Republic of Ireland.
