Landmarks of Ireland Pewter Plate
|
This beautiful and highly detailed Landmarks of Ireland Pewter Plate was handmade in Ireland. There are so many beautiful images of Ireland on this plate, that it is difficult to know where to start describing them to you.
I am going to start with the Map of Ireland in the center. The map is divided into the 4 provinces of Ireland with their individual flags engraved onto them. This is impressively highly detailed, as the map itself is only about 1 ½” tall. The word Ireland is inscribed below the map.
Starting from the top and moving clockwise around the plate we have an additional eight (8) images of Ireland.
- Blarney Castle – A famous medieval stronghold in Blarney, Co. Cork. A must see by many visitors to Ireland, partly because of the infamous Blarney Stone.
- The Cliffs of Moher – located in the well known area of the Burren in Co. Clare. Even as an Irish native, I found there to be something magical about standing on the edge of Ireland!
- Bunratty Castle – A 15th century castle located in Bunratty, Co. Clare with the claim of being “The most complete and authentic Castle in Ireland”
- Belfast City Hall – Located in the heart of Belfast City, Northern Ireland, this is one of Belfast’s most iconic buildings, dating back to 1906. Not to be missed are the City Hall illuminations, which light up the building at night, showing off the building's beautiful architectural features.
- Glendalough – I visited this peaceful monastic site in Co. Wicklow, on a school tour, and it still holds a special place in my heart. It is a fascinating historic landmark, located in a beautiful valley with lakes and rolling hills.
- Dublin’s Ha’penny Bridge – Built in 1816, it once cost half a penny to cross the River Liffey, on this pedestrian bridge. It is now the most famous bridge in Ireland’s capital.
- Kylemore Abbey – A Victorian Castle in Co. Galway, which is famous in part for its beautiful, peaceful picturesque setting, on a 1000 acre estate.
- Lakes of Killarney – A scenic attraction in Co. Kerry. Many visitors like to experience the old “Pony & Trap” used by their ancestors (and pictured here), through the Gap of Dunloe.
Surrounding all these beautiful landmarks this pewter plate is further decorated with Celtic Knots. This is an exquisite piece, sure to become a family heirloom.
Design features of this Landmarks of Ireland Pewter Plate are:
- Hand Crafted in Ireland
- Lead-Free Pewter
- Approx. 7 1/2" diameter
